The microstate of Liechtenstein sits in the Alps in the southwest region of Central Europe. Bordering it on the south and the west is Switzerland, while Austria lies adjacent on the north and the east. Officially known as the Principality of Liechtenstein, the country measures only slightly over 160 square kilometers. It is one of Europe's smallest nations.

Vaduz is its capital city, where the financial sector is also based. Liechtenstein is a popular winter destination because of the beautiful and challenging ski slopes in its Alpine surroundings.
